Our History
BANSA was established on February 21, 2021, as an autonomous air navigation service provider under the Bahamas Air Navigation Services Authority Act, 2021. Previously, air navigation services were managed by the Bahamas Air Navigation Services Division (BANSD), part of the Civil Aviation Authority of The Bahamas, and before that, the Civil Aviation Department. BANSA’s creation aligned with ICAO guidelines, which recommend separating regulators from service providers to avoid conflicts of interest and strengthen confidence in the system.

As of June 30, 2022, BANSA had 158
employees—comprising air traffic controllers,
electric technicians, administrative and
finance staff, and executive management.
